Homelessness Prevention Program

Keeping Neighbors Housed, Safe, and Supported

Homelessness doesn’t begin on the streets—it begins with a missed paycheck, a medical emergency, or an unexpected life event. At South County Community Services, we work to stop homelessness before it starts.

Our Homelessness Prevention Program offers emergency financial assistance, case management, and wraparound support for individuals and families on the verge of losing their homes. We focus on stabilizing people in place—because prevention is not only more cost-effective, it’s more humane.

Intervening Early, Changing Outcomes

A small amount of support at the right moment can make all the difference. Our team partners with clients to:

  • Provide rental and utility assistance during times of crisis

  • Help navigate eviction notices and connect with legal aid

  • Offer financial coaching and budgeting support

  • Connect households to employment, childcare, and other resources to build long-term stability

In the past year, our prevention efforts have helped over 275 households avoid eviction and stay safely housed in their communities.

Stability Starts at Home

We believe housing is a human right—and that everyone deserves the opportunity to live with dignity. Preventing homelessness preserves family stability, reduces trauma, and protects our local housing infrastructure.

When we help someone stay in their home, we don’t just prevent crisis—we promote resilience.

Be Part of the Safety Net

Your support can help prevent homelessness before it happens. Donations go directly toward emergency rent and utility payments. Volunteers help with resource navigation, translation, and financial literacy. Together, we create a stronger, more secure South County.
