At South County Community Services, we know that meeting urgent needs is only one part of the solution. To truly end hunger, prevent homelessness, and support our most vulnerable neighbors, we must also address the systems that create inequality in the first place.

That’s where advocacy comes in—and that’s where you come in.

We invite you to raise your voice alongside ours to ensure that policies, funding, and public services reflect the needs and dignity of every South County resident.

What We Advocate For

We work at the local and regional levels to influence change in areas such as:

  • Affordable Housing Access
    Supporting zoning, funding, and development efforts to increase housing options.

  • Food Justice
    Fighting for equitable access to nutritious food and stronger food systems.

  • Supportive Services for Seniors and the Unhoused
    Ensuring our community prioritizes care over criminalization.

  • Sustainable Public Funding
    Advocating for long-term investments in safety net services and social support infrastructure.

Our staff regularly attend city and county meetings, collaborate with coalitions, and provide public testimony—but we’re stronger when our whole community shows up, too.

How You Can Advocate

You don’t need to be an expert to make a difference. Advocacy is about showing up, speaking out, and staying informed:

  • Sign up for Action Alerts to receive timely updates about policy issues and how to respond.

  • Call or write your local representatives to share your support for housing, food access, and community funding.

  • Join our community education events to learn more about the issues affecting our region.

  • Share your story. Lived experience is powerful—help policymakers understand the real-life impact of their decisions.
