Gilroy Streets Team

The Gilroy Streets Team is a community of up to eight determined local residents who are currently unhoused but committed to rebuilding their lives and shaping a better future.

Together, Team Members take part in meaningful projects that beautify Gilroy, challenge stereotypes about homelessness, and restore a sense of pride and connection to the community.

Beyond the visible impact, Team Members gain critical support from trained Case Managers and Employment Specialists who provide personalized case management, system navigation, and job placement services. This holistic approach ensures that every Team Member is not only working toward a home but also toward a sustainable career path and renewed dignity.

At its core, the Gilroy Streets Team is about hope, belonging, and opportunity—helping neighbors transform their lives while making Gilroy a cleaner, stronger, and more compassionate city.

Meet a Team Member

If you've spent time in downtown Gilroy, there's a good chance you've seen Steve hard at work helping keep our community clean and welcoming. Steve is a valued member of the South County Community Services (SCCS) Street Team, a program that provides meaningful work opportunities for individuals who are experiencing or have experienced homelessness or other barriers to employment.

Each day, Street Team members beautify the community by picking up litter, removing debris, and reporting safety concerns—while also building work experience, job skills, income, and routine, and reconnecting with the community alongside supportive staff who help connect them to housing, employment, healthcare, and other vital resources.

For Steve, the Street Team is more than a job—it's a chance to give back to the community he calls home, and his dedication and hard work make a difference every day.
